WHAT IS INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ?

WHAT IS INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERING?

Instrumentation is the branch of engineering that deals with measurement and control.

Instrumentation and control basically convey two processes.

1. Instrument
2. Control

INSTRUMENT: It is a device that measures or manipulates process variables such as flow, pressure, temperature, etc. Instruments include various types of converter, transmitter, valve, analyzers, etc.

CONTROL: As the name suggests it includes circuit breaker, valve, solenoid, relays, etc. It controlled the parameters through their suitable instrument.

Instrumentation and control is a branch of engineering that studies the measurement and control of process variables, the design, and the implementation of systems that incorporate them.

Process variables like pressure, temperature, humidity, flow, pH, force, and speed.

Instrument refers to a group of devices that work together to control one or more variables.

Although instruments serve different functions and are installed in different locations, several process instruments will be connected to control one or more process variables.

WHY INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ARE NECESSARY?

The demand for precise measurement and control of plant parameters is increasing day by day for modern industries that rely heavily on automation for economic viability and mass production.

The availability of sophisticated instruments and varieties of control methodologies has greatly improved the quality of the product and contributed to the reduction of costs.

In the present time, it is impossible to think of industries without instrumentation and control. It decreases time and increases productivity

WHERE INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL WILL APPLY

Instrumentation and control directly connect with the automation industries.

Now a day all industries apply automation in each and every plant.

There are many types of controllers like PLC, VFD, DCS, PID which make work easier for engineers. before this automation industries suffer from many issues like accuracy, privacy, repeatability, control, etc.
